Period Sex: Horny on Your Period? Get a Towel and Get Into It

If you're the partner, ask what sounds good. Announcing that blood doesn't bother you is nice, but it's not the same as finding out what they want.
Put down a towel
A dark towel can catch most of the mess and make your bed feel less precious. Keep another one handy for wiping up. If blood gets on something, deal with it calmly using cold water. Nobody needs to feel like they've done something wrong. It's just blood, and you've both seen worse in a Tarantino film.
Keep contraception and barriers in the plan

Stop if anything hurts. New or unusual bleeding, severe pain and any symptoms that won't settle need medical advice.
Take the tampon out first
A tampon has to come out before a cock or an insertable toy goes in. Pushing it further in can make it hard to find. Standard menstrual cups also need to come out for vaginal penetration, and some menstrual discs may stay in, so check what yours says. If a menstrual product gets stuck and you can't get it out, get medical help.
Or stay on the outside
