Crotchless Lingerie: Too Good to Take Off?

Some lingerie looks so good it's almost a shame to take it off. Crotchless lingerie offers a rather cheeky solution to that problem. The outfit gets to stay, and the evening still has options.

The opening might catch your attention first, but the rest deserves a look too. Gorgeous lace, a cut you love, a bum that looks bloody excellent in the mirror. Those are perfectly good reasons to choose a pair of knickers, even when they've made an unusually bold decision about the crotch.

Pick the shape you already fancy

If you love a little lace panty, a crotchless pair keeps that look with a naughty extra. If you prefer a teddy, you can make more of the outfit: a longer line over the body, straps, lace and a look that's lovely before anyone gets closer.

Our lingerie collection includes crotchless panties and teddies, so the choice isn't just between “open” and “more open”. You can still choose how the knickers sit on your hips or how the teddy fits your waist. That's half the pleasure of lingerie shopping.

Think about the bits you enjoy showing off. You might love your legs, prefer lace across your belly or fancy a cut that gives your bum some attention. The opening doesn't get to make every other decision for you. It already has a fairly important job.

A little opening or a bolder look?

Open designs vary. A smaller opening can be a cheeky detail within an otherwise familiar panty. More strappy or revealing designs make the whole outfit feel a little more daring.

Neither wins a prize for being sexier. The appeal is how you feel wearing it. A little glimpse can be just as distracting as a very obvious view, particularly for the person trying valiantly to concentrate on anything else.

You can also keep some coverage elsewhere. Crotchless doesn't mean you have to bare every bit of yourself at once. Lace and straps can frame the parts you fancy showing, with the rest left to a pleasantly filthy imagination.

Comfort keeps you in the mood

A waistband that digs in is still annoying in very sexy underwear. So is a strap you spend the evening fishing back into place. Pick a size and cut you can move in, rather than treating the outfit like a pose you have to maintain.

Soft lace, a secure-feeling waist or a familiar teddy shape can make the style easier to enjoy. If you're constantly adjusting it, the lingerie is getting rather more attention than you probably had in mind.

Our guide to choosing lingerie you'll enjoy wearing covers those broader fit choices. Crotchless lingerie is allowed to feel good on the body as well as look good over the side of the bed.

Keep it on because you want to

The fun of an open design is having another option. You might enjoy wearing the whole outfit through a slower evening, or you might want it off after the first admiring look. Both are entirely fair uses of your own knickers.

Wearing them isn't a yes to anything else. If you're buying for a partner, choose a style they actually fancy rather than an outfit you've privately given a job description.

A little teasing can be plenty: letting a partner notice the detail, adding stockings or enjoying how it looks with a robe. You don't need to plan an elaborate reveal. “Come and look at my new underwear” is already a fairly promising sentence.

Let your partner get a proper look at the lingerie

If you love the look, give yourself time to enjoy it. Lingerie doesn't have to make a thirty-second appearance before landing on the floor beside a sock.

Our bedroom lighting ideas can help you find a view you both fancy, while these roleplay ideas for couples suit a night when you're feeling a little more mischievous.

Afterwards, give the lingerie a gentle wash so it's ready for another outing. A good pair of crotchless knickers shouldn't be a one-night stand.
