Thirty black tails sliding over a bare bum can feel almost polite. The same thirty tails snapping down a second later make it very clear that politeness was temporary.
The Sportsheets Edge Flogger combines supple faux-leather strips with a weighted silver-coloured metal handle and black wrist loop. It can stroke, tease and deliver controlled impact, giving you plenty of room between “ooh, nice” and “fuck, do that again.”
Thirty soft strips spread the sensation
Instead of one solid paddle face, the flogger has thirty narrow black strips that land across a wider patch of skin. A loose gentle swing feels softer and more scattered, while a tighter controlled swing feels sharper.
That range makes it useful for building a scene slowly. You can begin with barely any impact, watch the wearer relax and then turn up the sting without reaching for a different toy.
Start by dragging the tails over bare skin
Run the strips down the back, over the bum and along the thighs before the first strike. Let the wearer feel the soft material and wonder how it will land.
Lift the tails away, pause and brush them across the same spot again. If they start getting impatient, good. Anticipation is free and you have thirty excellent reasons not to rush.
Practise your swing on a pillow first
Use a cushion to learn where the strips land and how far their tips travel. Aim to make the tails arrive together rather than scattering around the target.
Check your distance too. Stand too close and the middle of the strips may land awkwardly. Stand too far away and the tips can wrap around the body. Neither looks as dominant as you imagined in your head.
Aim for the fleshy centre of the bum
Keep impact on large padded muscle areas such as the buttocks and upper thighs. Avoid the head, neck, spine, kidneys, abdomen, tailbone, joints, genitals and any injured or numb skin.
Start with light wrist movements and build only when the receiving partner wants more. A good flogging has rhythm and control. Windmilling your arm like an inflatable bloke outside a tyre shop is neither.
The weighted metal handle keeps your grip steady
The silver-coloured metal handle adds weight to your hand and gives the flogger a firm centre. Hold it securely without choking the grip, then use your wrist and forearm for small controlled movements.
Do not strike with the handle. The black strips are made to meet the body; the metal section is there so you can aim them without launching the whole thing across the bedroom.
Put the wrist loop on before every swing
Slip the black loop around your wrist and test the flogger off-body before the scene. It helps keep the handle attached to the hand doing the swinging.
The loop is also useful for hanging storage after cleaning. It is not a restraint, leash or invitation to loop the flogger around somebody's neck. Use it for your wrist or the cupboard hook and leave the creative bullshit elsewhere.
Count the strikes or make them ask
Give the wearer a number and have them count every clean strike. Start again if they lose track, or reward good counting with the harder swing they have been trying not to beg for.
You can also make each strike conditional: legs wider, arse higher, ask properly. The flogger supplies the sensation, while your voice turns it into a power game.
Mix soft strokes with sharper impact
After several strikes, use the tails to stroke the warmed skin. That sudden softness can feel intimate, teasing or suspicious as hell when the person knows another smack is coming.
Change the rhythm rather than simply hitting harder. Two gentle strikes, one pause and one firmer landing can keep the wearer listening to every movement behind them.
Check the skin and the person attached to it
Agree on target areas, intensity and a stop word before play. Watch the skin, check in as the scene builds and stop for sharp pain, numbness, broken skin or any reaction outside the plan.
Never leave a restrained person alone with impact equipment in play. If either of you says stop, the flogger goes down immediately. No dramatic encore required.
Clean and straighten all thirty strips
Clean the faux leather, metal handle and wrist loop according to the supplied care guidance. Dry everything completely, separate any twisted strips and hang or store the flogger without crushing them.
Before the next session, inspect every strip, attachment point, handle join and wrist loop. Thirty tails are sexy. Twenty-nine tails and one mystery strip beneath the bed are a quality-control issue.
