Anal to Vaginal Play: Clean Toy, Fresh Condom, Carry On

A toy that's been in your arse needs cleaning before it goes near your vagina. If you're using a condom on it, that needs changing too. A quick wipe on the sheet doesn't count, however confidently you do it.

That's the main rule. The rest is making the change easy enough that it doesn't become an interruption you resent. A clean spare toy, fresh condoms and somewhere to put the used one can do most of the work before you even get started.

Two toys can make switching easier

Keeping one toy for anal play and another for vaginal use means you can change what you're doing without asking the same dildo to immediately do both jobs.

Put the clean one within reach and give the used one a separate spot, such as a towel or washable tray. Keep that distinction obvious. "I think this was the clean one" isn't a particularly sexy guess.

Using the same toy? Give it a proper changeover

Remove the used condom carefully if there is one. Clean the toy appropriately for its material, including any exposed base or handle, and fit a fresh compatible condom for the next use if you're using barriers.

The fresh condom needs to cover the toy securely. Don't reuse the old one, turn it inside out or assume the uncovered base stayed clean. If the toy is awkward to cover or clean properly, use a different clean toy.

Clean hands belong in the plan

Wash your hands after anal contact before touching the vagina, a clean toy or a new condom. If you're wearing gloves, change them between those activities.

Think about what else your hands touched: the lube bottle, the remote, the toy handle. Keep clean supplies away from used toys and avoid immediately putting dirty fingers back on something you've just cleaned.

You don't need to scrub the entire bedroom. You do need to stop the same mess making its way back to the clean toy.

Take the pause without apologising for it

"Hang on, fresh toy" is enough. You can still flirt while somebody reaches for the clean one. The mood is allowed to survive a practical sentence.

If cleaning the toy would take longer, choose something else to enjoy for now. Skipping the wash because you're both keen is a crap shortcut. Your vagina doesn't care how good the timing felt.
